YozoSync Privacy Policy

Yozoneko (“the developer”) provides this privacy policy for the Android application “YozoSync” (“the app”).

2. Access to Google Drive

• The app uses the Google Drive API and requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive scope in order to perform two-way synchronisation.
• This access is used to synchronise files with the Drive folder chosen by the user (listing, uploading, downloading, and moving to trash on deletion). The app creates, updates and trashes files only inside that folder (apart from creating the destination folder itself when the user asks for a new one).
• Outside that folder the app performs only the following read operations, none of which retrieves file contents:
  • listing folder names on the screen where the user picks the destination;
  • checking whether anything in Google Drive has changed since the last sync, so that an unchanged destination folder is not read again (the app receives only the identifiers of changed files, and neither stores nor uses them);
  • reading the email address of the connected account, to show which account is connected.
• The narrower drive.file scope is not sufficient: it cannot access files created by other applications, including the Google Drive desktop client, which makes two-way synchronisation of an existing notes folder impossible.
• Access tokens are stored only on the user's device and are never transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
• The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
• Data obtained from Google Drive is never read by humans, used to train machine learning or AI models, used for advertising purposes, or sold or transferred to third parties.

3. Information collected

The developer does not collect personal information through the app.

• Synchronised files: transferred only between the user's device and the user's Google Drive.
• Google account address: stored only on the device, to display which account is connected.
• Sync history and settings: stored only on the device.

4. Advertising (free version)

The free version displays advertisements via Google AdMob, which may collect the device Advertising ID. See the Google Privacy Policy and Google Advertising Policies for details. No Google Drive data is used for advertising.

5. Purchases (Pro version)

Purchases are processed by Google Play billing. The developer does not receive payment card or other payment details.

6. How Google user data is protected

• The developer operates no server. All communication with Google Drive is made directly between the user's device and Google's servers over HTTPS (TLS); it does not pass through any third-party server.
• File contents stream directly between the device's storage (via the Android Storage Access Framework) and Google Drive, and are never copied to or cached anywhere under the developer's control.
• OAuth access tokens are obtained on-device through Google Play services and are held in memory only for the duration of a sync.
• Settings, the sync index and the sync history are stored in the app's private storage, inside the Android application sandbox, where other apps cannot read them.
• The app contains no code path that transmits Google user data to any external destination.

7. Data retention and deletion

• The developer retains no data at all, because there is no server. The only data retained is on the user's own device, and only for as long as the app is installed.
• Uninstalling the app removes all app data stored on the device (settings, tokens, sync index, history).
• Files on Google Drive are not deleted; the user may delete them from Google Drive at any time.
• The app's access to Google Drive can be revoked at any time from Google Account permissions.
